Training is just as mental as it is physical – This video will inspire you!

This is a great clip that shows how training is just as mental as it is physical. I watch this pretty often as it really inspires me ~ JAM

Mental training is the same as physical training, believe it or not. It just depends on what you are focusing on. Pushing yourself physically requires a great deal of mental insight, awareness and strength, but then again, pushing yourself mentally often requires a great deal of physical strength and endurance.

Sounds like a conundrum? (Confusing?)

What’s comes first, the thought or the action, is a profound question.

To be safe you want to always be building mental and physical toughness, agility, strength (not every minute of the day, but relatively consistent in your life). And that takes on many forms; it is not just about thinking positive or lifting weights…more on that in another post.

If I had a choice of which one to focus on, I would say both, but that mental toughness is more powerful. There are athletic people with strong and big bodies who are unable to get over themselves, move forward, act with intention, and perform at high levels.

And don’t think this mental toughness thing is easy either… It’s simple I suppose, if we could be ideally objective about it, but not easy. There are many aspects of mindset that you need to be aware off in order to maintain psychological strength and we all have the power.

For example: I wrote an article on emotional fitness this past week at the Healthy High Achiever blog… And emotional fitness is only one MAJOR aspect of being psychologically strong, but it’s a big kahuna as emotion is attached to every thought.

In this video, the coach convinces the player he can get to the 50 yard line, but really the end zone. So deception and even illusion can be a tool to leverage. Because the player can’t see the end zone, he has no idea where he’s at, but he stays focused on his goal, faith; of course having the inspiration of a coach really helped and knowing that his friends were watching also helped.

What are your thoughts on why that football player was able to pull off this amazing feat?
